Ishizuka, Przystawski, and Brawley Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- As we turn the page to a new week in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), we now officially have two teams that have clinched byes in the First Round of the EHL Playoffs. The Philadelphia Little Flyers locked up their division back on January 26th, and the New Hampshire Avalanche did the same this past Saturday night. Overall, this past week featured many great performances across the league, as the standings continue to tighten up in both conferences.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Tao Ishizuka (Connecticut RoughRiders), A.J. Przystawski (New Hampshire Avalanche), and Brendahn Brawley (Philadelphia Little Flyers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

We keep on rolling with another 18 games on the schedule this week. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, February 18th. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Tao Ishizuka (Connecticut RoughRiders)

Ishizuka and the RoughRiders won three of their four games this past week, as they maintained their control over the 6th and final playoff spot in the New England Conference.

As for the '99 forward, Ishizuka scored four times during the week and dished out five assists. The all-star forward began the season with the Valley Jr. Warriors and tallied ten points in 17 games. At the beginning of the December, Ishizuka was then moved to the RoughRiders, and since has notched 22 more points during his time in Connecticut. He'll now look to build off of the momentum from this past week, as the RoughRiders play their final six games of the regular season all inside the friendly home confines of the SoNo Ice House.

DEFENSEMAN - A.J. Przystawski (New Hampshire Avalanche)

Sticking with the New England Conference, Przystawski and the Avalanche won both of their games this past week and thus clinched the North Division.

As for Przystawski, the '98 native of Burlington, CT picked up a trio of assists in the two games, giving him 17 total points on the year. In his third season in the EHL, the veteran defenseman has set a new career highs this season, after tallying 9 points (2016-17) and 15 points (2017-18) over the course of the past two years. The 6'4 defenseman is known more for his play in the defensive zone, and the physical game that brings on daily basis. Przystawski played a big role on last year's championship team, and he'll be looking to do the same in the playoffs this year, as the Avalanche make a push to defend their title.

GOALTENDER - Brendahn Brawley (Philadelphia Little Flyers)

Moving back between the pipes, and Brawley continued to add to his 'Goalie of the Year' resume this past week. The '98 native of Morton, PA was between the pipes for his team's 4-1 victory over the East Coast Wizards on Thursday, his 21st win of the season. Brawley has already matched his regular season win total from a year ago, and he also owns stellar marks in terms of his Goals Against Average (1.91), Save Percentage (.936), and Shutouts (6).

The argument can be made that it's between Brawley and Nathan Pickett (New Hampshire Avalanche) for the Goalie of the Year award, as the two netminders combine to lead the EHL in almost every statistical category. Looking ahead for Brawley and the Little Flyers, and they will try and inch their way closer towards clinching the regular season title with matchups this week against the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers and the North Carolina Golden Bears (2).

HONORABLE MENTION - Matt Pasic (Walpole Express)

This week the EHL would like to recognize a pair of players with Honorable Mentions, starting with Matt Pasic of the Walpole Express. The '99 native of Cotuit, MA was the offensive catalyst for his team on Saturday night, scoring four goals in a 6-3 victory over the Connecticut RoughRiders.

HONORABLE MENTION - Hunter Bersani (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights)

Moving back over to the Mid-Atlantic Conference, and another team to keep a close watch on right now is the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton KnightsHunter Bersani helped pace his team's offense this past week, scoring a pair of goals and adding three assists, as the Knights won all three of their matchups and stretched their winning streak out to five games.
