Applecore Forward Set to Join Vikings this Fall

BREWSTER, NY -- Race Bennett, a forward for the New York Applecore, has committed to Salem State University for the fall of 2019.

The '98 native of Clifton Park, NY is in his second season with the Applecore, and to date, he's tallied 82 points in 91 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). With six games remaining in the regular season, plus at least the First Round of the EHL Playoffs, Bennett has his sights set on 18 more points to get him to the 100-point mark for his career in the EHL.

With Bennett's commitment, the EHL has now reached double-digits in terms of the number of players to commit to join the Vikings since the league was formed back in 2013. Bennett will get an instant feeling of comfort when he arrives at Salem State, as he'll be joined by his current teammate, Connor Wooley.

Looking ahead, the Applecore would be the #6 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Conference if the playoffs started today. However, they are not locked into this spot, as they will look to improve on their position down the stretch.
