Withington, Bermingham, and Roy Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- It's hard to believe, but we've reached the final week of the regular season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). The battle for playoff positioning is intense, as we work our way down the final stretch of the year. Looking back on this past week, and the EHL featured 17 teams in action with 22 total games across the league.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Zach Withington (Connecticut Chiefs), Mike Bermingham (East Coast Wizards), and Tyler Roy (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The final week of the regular season includes action on every day, and 14 more games across the league. While the 12 playoff teams have been determined, not all of the final seeds have been officially clinched yet. The final set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, March 4th. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Zach Withington (Connecticut Chiefs)

Withington and the Chiefs won both of their games this past weekend, scoring a total of 13 goals combined in their victories over the Walpole Express and the Vermont Lumberjacks.

The Chiefs' captain played a role in just under half of his team's tallies, scoring a trio of times in the two games, and adding three assists as well. For the season, Withington now has 55 points through 38 total games to date, which blows away the 35 points he notched in his first season in the EHL (2017-18). While Connecticut will not be advancing to the playoffs this year, Withington is one of many bright spots for the Chiefs to look back on when they reflect on their first season in the EHL. The talented forward is set to join Albertus Magnus College this fall, where he will play for the school's ice hockey and baseball teams.

In the meantime, Withington and the Chiefs will look to end the season on a high note, with a pair of matchups this week against Team Maryland.

DEFENSEMAN - Mike Bermingham (East Coast Wizards)

Sticking with the New England Conference, Bermingham and the Wizards won both of their games this past week, and thus clinched the South Division title. With this crown secured, the Wizards have earned a bye in the First Round of the EHL Playoffs.

As for Bermingham, the '99 native of Groton, MA scored a goal and added four assists in the pair of victories, giving him 23 total points for the season. Bermingham tallied 26 points in just over 50 total games last year, and has provided a great spark for his team, ever since he returned to the club in early December. Bermingham and the Wizards are riding a six-game winning streak, and they've gone 14-3-0 in 2019.

The team will look to stay hot on their way into the postseason, as they close out the regular season with home games against the Boston Jr. Rangers (Friday) and the Seahawks Hockey Club (Saturday).

GOALTENER - Tyler Roy (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers)

Roy and the Jr. Flyers won two of their three games this past week, and the '98 native of Brighton, MI was excellent between the pipes. In total, Roy turned aside 112 of the 117 total shots that were sent his way.

With the pair of victories, Philadelphia officially locked up the #5 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Conference, which would match them up with the Philadelphia Revolution if the playoffs started today. That's a matchup in which the Jr. Flyers will feel a sense of confidence, after beating their rival this past week. Philadelphia will lean on their netminder as they wrap-up regular season play against the New York Applecore on Thursday, and then turned their attention towards the postseason.

HONORABLE MENTION - Connor Woolley (New York Applecore)

Speaking of the New York Applecore, the EHL would like to recognize Connor Woolley with an honorable mention this week, after the '98 forward tallied six points in three games. Woolley's biggest performance came against the Valley Jr. Warriors on Saturday, when he scored a hat-trick and added an assist in a 6-3 victory. Included in Woolley's hat-trick was his 4th game-winning goal of the season.
