15 EHL Alums on 2016-17 Roster

FREDONIA, NY -- Dating back to the formation of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) in 2013, a total of 17 players have made their commitments to SUNY Fredonia while playing in the #Eshow. That number also includes 15 players from this past season's Blue Devils roster.

"Not only are we getting very good hockey players out of the EHL, but they are among the top students in our program, team captains, All-SUNYAC selections, and exemplary members of our campus community," said SUNY Fredonia head coach Jeff Meredith. "One of the biggest reasons we have been successful in committing EHL players to Fredonia is the dedication of the EHL coaches towards moving their players on to the next level. The EHL coaches work hard to get their players on our campus for visits and that is why this past year at Fredonia we had 15 EHL alumni on our roster. Additionally, we will add two more in our incoming class this Fall."

This season's two Fredonia commits are a pair of Hartford Jr. Wolfpack teammates in Colin Valentine and Ryan Dunner. Both players are eager and excited to get their collegiate hockey careers started this Fall.

When the new freshmen arrive, they will be greeted by a set of captains that consists of two EHL alums in Jamie Young (Walpole Express) and Oskar Gerhardson (Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Knights).

In highlighting another alum who has enjoyed success at Fredonia, look no further then Eric Bogart (New England Wolves), as the netminder finished up a strong sophomore season by being named to the 2017 Third Team All SUNYAC.

Meredith went on to add his concluding thoughts on the EHL.

"Two of my sons have played in the EHL, and from a parents perspective, my wife and I couldn't be happier with their decisions," said Meredith.

Be sure to check back in again next week for a new EHL Pipeline of the Week.
