The '01 native of New Fairfield, CT recently finished his 2nd and final season with the Apple Core, and in 74 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Conboy tallied 26 total points to his credit.
"We are very excited to see Cap' [Zach] commit to Western New England University," said Apple Core former interim head coach Joe Wegwerth. "Conboy went the extra mile this season and was constantly putting in the work to improve his game. We are very proud and happy for Zach and his family for him to move on to play college hockey."
Conboy joins a strong incoming freshmen class at WNE, that includes three other EHL players from three different teams around the league. This fall, Conboy will team up with Aeron Kummu of the Valley Jr Warriors, Alex Raketich of the Walpole Express, and Everest Schneider of the New Jersey 87s.
"My time playing with the Apple Core was one of my favorite parts of my life," said Conboy. "I was extremely honored to wear the 'C' this season for such a historic franchise. To my family, coaches, and teammates, thank you for making every day coming to the rink enjoyable. It is a dream come true to commit to play hockey at the college level, and I am looking forward to getting started in the fall at Western New England. Let's go Golden Bears!"
