Avalanche All-Star Defenseman Set to Join Rams this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Thomas Dempsey, a defenseman for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Suffolk University for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Chatham, NJ recently finished his 2nd and final season with the Avalanche, and in 77 total games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Dempsey tallied 35 career points with seven goals and 28 assists.

"Dempsey came to us after leaving the NCDC two seasons ago and became an immediate impact to our locker room and culture," said Avalanche head coach and general manger Chris Cerrella. "He works very hard on the ice and in the classroom, and he is going to be a great addition to the Suffolk University community. He is the ultimate student-athlete. I could not be more proud of him and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future."

Dempsey goes in the books as the 1st Avalanche player to choose Suffolk so far this year, and the 5th player in franchise history to commit to the Rams. He's also part of an eight-player class that the EHL is sending off to Suffolk this fall.

"I am very proud to announce my commitment to Suffolk University," said Dempsey. "I enjoyed my two seasons in the EHL and with the New Hampshire Avalanche program. Thank you to my Avalanche coaches and my teammates over these last two years.  I would like to also thank my family, friends, and all those who have helped me get to this point! I am very excited to start my journey as a Ram!"

Dempsey leaves behind a solid EHL career that includes being selected to the College Series All-Star Team this past fall, as the top players from the league lined up against Curry College and UMass Boston in late October.
