Express Forward Set to Join Colonels this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Nolan McDonough, a forward for the Express Hockey Club, has committed to Curry College for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Dorchester, MA joined the Express in late January, and over the course of 17 total games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), McDonough tallied 11 points to his credit on five goals and six assists.

“When I got a call about Nolan, I was extremely excited to get him in red, white, and black," said Express head coach Nic Cota. "Not only is Nolan a great hockey player, but also a phenomenal kid. He was an absolute pleasure to coach, and was a great addition for our group.”

McDonough's addition to the Express lineup helped lead the team all the way to game three of the East Division Finals. Unfortunately, Walpole fell in triple overtime that Sunday afternoon in March to the eventual champions, the Boston Jr. Rangers. However, despite the defeat, McDonough is beyond grateful of the way the team welcomed him in late in the season.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates for their support,” said McDonough. “I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity the Express Hockey Club provided me. A huge thank you to Coach Cota and Coach Kyle [Robertson] for allowing me to wear the Express jersey. I cannot thank the coaches enough for their endless support!”

McDonough is one of two top forwards heading off to Curry this fall, as he will team up with Victor Daigneault of the Vermont Lumberjacks when he arrives on campus. Overall, the pair of playmakers brings the total up to 20 players in league history that have chosen Curry, dating back to the EHL's inception in 2013.
