Chiefs Veteran Forward Finishes Climb up to NCAA Hockey

NEWINGTON, CT -- Spencer Clark, a forward for the Connecticut Chiefs, has committed to Western New England University (WNE) for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Chicopee, MA, spent three seasons under the #EShow umbrella, working his way up from the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and now onto the NCAA ranks.

“WNE is getting a really honest player in Spencer,” said Chiefs head coach and general manager Greg Heffernan. “He is a team-first player and true competitor. He battled through adversity this season with a broken ankle and fought through the pain to be a big part of our playoff run.”

As Heffernan mentioned, Clark battled through an injury this season, that held him back to just 27 regular season games. Combined with his six postseason games in March, Clark finished the year with six assists to his credit.

Flashing back to the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, Clark spent both of those years with the Railers Jr. Hockey Club at the EHLP level. Overall, in 85 career games in the EHLP, Clark collected an additional 21 points to his name.

As he turns the page to the next chapter, Clark is beyond grateful for the path that junior hockey took him on.

“I’d first like to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches for all the support along the way," said Clark. "Thank you to the CT Chiefs and Coach Heffernan for giving me the opportunity this season to continue my development and for helping me achieve my goal to play in college. I am looking forward to starting my journey at WNE. It is a perfect fit for me both athletically and academically.”

When Clark arrives on campus in the fall, he will quickly reunite with his 2022-23 Chiefs teammate Sam Logan, as well as both Chris Hibson and Aren Francis from the New Hampshire Avalanche.
