The '02 native of Canada spent two seasons developing under the #EShow umbrella, climbing up the ladder from the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and now onto NCAA hockey.

Lavoie's junior hockey career got off to a fast start, posting 12 points in 14 EHLP games to begin the 2021-22 season for the Railers Jr. Hockey Club. The talented playmaker later finished that season with the New York Apple Core at the EHL level, registering 28 points in 30 total games. The solid campaign caught New Jersey's attention, which resulted in Lavoie aging-out this past year with the 87's.

“He had a very dynamic year last season [2021-22], he played against us very well; he was essentially an 87’s killer," said 87's head coach and general manager Adam Houli. “So when we had a chance to add him to our lineup this year, it was a no-brainer. He’s one of the best skaters out there, certainly in our league. He’s got a knack for the game, and he understands where he needs to be on the ice.”

What Houli recognized in Lavoie's game, the rest of the league noticed as well, as he was named to the EHL All-Star Team back in October. The experience of facing off against Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport, combined with a full year at the EHL level, ultimately led to this decision for Lavoie.

“I am really proud of reaching my goal to play in the NCAA," said Lavoie. "I was aiming to play at a school with a good mix of academics and hockey program, and that's why I chose Albertus Magnus. I cannot wait to get started in the Fall."

In addition to his stellar offensive play, Lavoie showed his defensive prowess throughout the season on the penalty kill, which the 87's boasted a league-best 89.4 percent for the 2022-23 campaign.

Houli went on to talk about Lavoie’s versatility and how it will help him at the collegiate level.

“He was really impressive to have in our lineup, you can play him in different spots and you can get him up and down the lineup and that’s what I’m most excited about him going to college," added Houli. "He has the ability to play a lot of different roles and he’s going to be very versatile for them. Adding him to our lineup made us deeper, allowed us to play the style we wanted to play; upbeat, fast and always moving, and he was a big part of that.”

Lavoie reflected on his season with the 87’s, and how the team prepared him for the collegiate level.

“I am really thankful that I had the chance to play for the 87's. We were treated like pros from day one, and all my teammates were a big part of my commitment,” added Lavoie. “I matured both on and off the ice this past season because of the coaching staff, and I developed a more complete game where I can now play in any situation.”
