The '02 playmaker recently finished his second and final season with the Spartans, and over the course of 97 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Whitman tallied 63 points to his credit on 28 goals and 35 assists.

“Carson is a great teammate who has the ability to take the top off of a defense,” said Spartans head coach and general manager Brett Tryder. “He is a threat to make a play every shift and he scored some big goals for us. He has been a pleasure to have as a player and teammate. Salem is the perfect fit for Whit. He has really matured as a player, and he is ready for college hockey. He will be a great addition to the Salem State locker room and campus, in general."

Speaking of Whitman as a teammate, he will be maintaining that role with additional pair of Spartans that are following the same path to Salem State. The three-player class from the EHL also includes Chase Conlon and Carson James from Seacoast.
 

Whitman is looking forward to already knowing a pair of his teammates, and he's also beyond grateful to the Spartans organization for helping him achieve this lifelong goal.

"The past two seasons, living in New Hampshire and playing at The Rinks at Exeter, and playing for the Seacoast Spartans organization, have been invaluable," said Whitman. "The team and organization welcomed me with open arms while others looked past me. After nearly giving up the game after a tough COVID season, Coach Tryder reached out to me and gave me an opportunity to play for the Spartans. Being a part of the team and the entire organization brought back my love for the game. I was able to create new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. I couldn’t be more grateful that I was able to play with the Spartans for the past two seasons."

Whitman went on to talk about the opportunity Salem State is giving him, and how he's looking forward to joining the Viking community.

"I am very excited to be going to Salem State this fall and to be able to represent the Vikings on the ice," added Whitman. "I am excited about living in a historic town and meeting the people on campus. The feeling that I get from the Salem community is similar to the feeling that I got from Seacoast. It is a welcoming community. I can’t wait to enjoy the culture on the campus of Salem State.”
