Maryland Forward Climbs Ladder to College Hockey

ODENTON, MD -- Conner McCowell, a forward for Team Maryland, has committed to Post University for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Grosse Pointe, MI spent a pair of seasons under the #EShow umbrella, working his way up from the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and now onto NCAA Hockey.

"We would like to congratulate Connor and wish him all the best with his future at Post," said Maryland head coach and general manager Josh Fusco. "Connor is a heart and soul player that works hard every day and puts everything he has into what he does. His work ethic and style of play, his patience, and ultimately never giving up attitude, helped him achieve this accomplishment."

Fusco brought McCowell over from the New Hampshire Avalanche, where he helped lead their 2021-22 EHLP team all of the way to the Championship Game. That season in New Hampshire, McCowell posted 38 points in 49 total games, which earned him the chance to start off the 2022-23 campaign at the EHL level.

After playing five games at the EHL level in New Hampshire, Chris Cerrella, the head coach of the Avalanche, helped McCowell find a new home with Fusco down in Maryland.

Once he established his role in Maryland, McCowell went on to post 13 points over 31 total games, which caught the attention of the Eagles and led to this commitment.
