Apple Core Veteran Defenseman Set to Join Teammate this Fall

BREWSTER, NY -- Mark Andre, a defenseman for the New York Apple Core, has committed to Anna Maria College for the fall of 2023.

The '03 native of Oakland, ME spent a pair of seasons in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), splitting his time between the Apple Core and the Seahawks Hockey Club. Overall, in 46 career games in the EHL, the defensive defenseman notched three goals and an assist to his credit.

"Mark was a great addition to our team, and he proved that to be the case from the moment we brought him over from the Seahawks,” said Apple Core head coach and general manager Lenny Cagliannone. "He worked on the things we asked him to and was a contributing factor to our program. His growth from the time of acquisition to his commitment was tremendous. Congrats to Mark and his family.”

Andre is one of two Apple Core defensemen that are each heading off to Anna Maria this fall, as he will reunite with Kyle Charbonneau when he arrives on campus for the Amcats. The pair of defensemen are part of a seven-player class that the EHL is sending to AMC, which also includes Justin Beers from the Express Hockey Club, Caleb Cathcart and Tyler Page from the Philadelphia Little Flyers, and both Sean McWhinnie and Nikita Medvedev from the Railers Jr. Hockey Club.

“I am very excited to get started and continue my playing career at Anna Maria," said Andre. "Playing for Apple Core was a great experience, from the guys I wake up and go to the rink with everyday, to the coaches and the rest of the staff. Coach Caglianone and Coach [Joe] Minerva helped me bring my play to the next level and I’m very thankful to them for it. I want to thank my coaches and the guys for helping me achieve my goals this year and grinding with me everyday. I also want to give a special thank you to my parents who have supported me throughout every decision in my hockey journey.”
