EHL MVP and Forward of the Year Set to Join Panthers this Fall

EXETER, NH -- William Pray, a forward for the Seacoast Spartans, has committed to Plymouth State University for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Wheaton, IL spent a pair of seasons with the Spartans in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Combining the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons together, Pray hit the ice for 98 career games in the EHL, tallying 126 points along the way on 57 goals and 69 assists.

“William is a unique talent,” said Spartans head coach and general manager Brett Tryder. “He finished his first season as a top player in our league and picked up where he left off this past year. He is probably the most gifted hockey player that I have ever coached. He sees the game at an extremely high level and has an incredible sense of time and space. I am very happy to hear that he has chosen Plymouth State, which is always in the hunt for a National Championship at the NCAA, level.”

As Tryder mentioned, Pray is a special talent, and further proof of that can be found with his Most Valuable Player and Forward of the Year honors that he claimed following the conclusion of this past regular season. Over the course of his two years in the league, Pray caught the attention of every single one of his opponents, and most importantly, Plymouth State.

“I am honored to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Plymouth State University this coming Fall," said Pray. "I would like to thank my family and teammates that have always believed in me. I’d also like to thank the Spartans organization. I can’t imagine having the success that I have had without the endless support and great facilities in Exeter. Finally, I would like to thank Coach Tryder who has constantly pushed me towards becoming not only a better hockey player, but a better overall person as well."
