Apple Core All-Star Goaltender Set to Join Ravens this Fall

BREWSTER, NY -- Max Banoun, a goaltender for the New York Apple Core, has committed to Franklin Pierce University (FPU) for the fall of 2023.

The '02 native of Alpine, NJ chose the Apple Core for his final season of junior hockey, collecting 13 wins in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) this past year. Banoun's .920 save percentage in the regular season caught the attention of coaches across the league, and was a big reason why the veteran netminder was selected to participate in the 2022 EHL All-Star Classic back in November.

“Max progressed as both a player and a human throughout the duration of the season,” said Apple Core head coach and general manager Lenny Caglianone. “He was a continuous staple in our lineup and carried the team when it mattered most. I wish Max nothing but success as he transitions to his collegiate career.”

Banoun is one of eight EHL players heading off to FPU this fall, as he will team up with Todd Branish from the New Jersey 87's, Nathanel Peretz from the New England Wolves, Nick Tessier from the New Hampshire Avalanche, John Sterling from the Seahawks Hockey Club, and the trio of Nick Fish, Theo Jacobs, and Rocco Seery from the East Coast Wizards.
