Railers Forward Set to Join Colonels Next Fall

WORCESTER, MA -- Jake Kloss, a forward for the Railers Jr. Hockey Club, has committed to Wilkes University for the fall of 2024.

The '04 native of Hershey, PA chose the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for what will turn out to be his first and only season of junior hockey. To date this season, Kloss has hit the ice for six games for the Railers, and he's averaging just under a point per game so far with a goal and four assists to his credit.

“Jake is a smart, 200-foot center, that plays the game the correct way, and he will be a truly great addition to Wilkes," said Railers head coach and general manager Sean Bertoni.

Kloss is the first commitment of the 2023-24 season for the EHL, and he also helps the league extend a notable streak. With his commitment to join the Colonels, the EHL has now committed at least one player per season to Wilkes for the last seven years.

Overall, 12 players in league history have chosen Wilkes, which has established itself as one of the top programs in all of NCAA Division III hockey.

“When I stepped foot on Wilkes’ campus, I immediately knew it was the college for me," said Kloss. "The school has a great engineering program as well as a great hockey program. Coach [Tyler] Hynes has done a tremendous job building the program and I couldn’t be more excited to play for him next year. The Railers are the best place for me to develop this year because of the way things are run. Coach Bertoni sets high standards for his teams which helps all of his players develop on the ice, off the ice, and as young men. The Railers have the best facilities in the league, which will maximize my development in juniors.”

Fresh off sweeping all three of their games at the Opening Showcase, Kloss and the Railers return to action next on Wednesday, October 11th, when they host the Connecticut RoughRiders at 11:30 am.
