The '03 native of Haverhill, MA is in his second season with the Wizards, and over the course of 52 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Atkinson has tallied 14 total points to his credit on six goals and eight assists.

It's also worth noting that in 19 games to date so far this season, Atkinson's nine points collected already surpasses the total he put up over the course of the entire 2022-23 campaign.

"We couldn’t be more happy for Owen," said Wizards head coach and general manager Kory Falite. "He has made major improvements from last year to where he is at now. We’re really happy to see his hard work pay off, and we’re excited to see what the rest of this season and the future holds for Owen."

Speaking of that future, it will take Atkinson to a program that has always heavily recruited players from the EHL. The veteran forward goes in the books as the 27th player in league history to commit to Post, and he also extends a streak. The Eagles have now committed at least one player per year from the EHL, in each of the 11 seasons since the league was formed back in 2013.

"I'm proud to announce my commitment to Post University," said Atkinson. "I would love to thank my family, teammates, and coaches for all the help along the journey to achieve my dream of playing college hockey. As soon as I saw {ost and the care that Coach [Tim] Richter and Coach [Andrew] Deangelis had for me and their program, it was an easy decision. I can’t thank Coach Falite enough for a great two years of juniors and making me the player I am and will continue to be at Post. Looking forward to the fall!

Atkinson and the Wizards hit the Thanksgiving break in 2nd place in the East Division, and 4th player overall in the league standings, with a record of 14-4-2. Riding a five-game winning streak, Atkinson and the Wizards will return to action on Friday, December 1st, when the hit the road to take on the Express Hockey Club in Walpole, MA.
