The '04 native of Cranston, RI chose HCRI for what will end up being his first and only season of junior hockey. Overall, in 29 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games to date, Gaudreau has tallied 30 points to his credit on 20 goals and 10 assists.

"We are extremely proud of Perry on his commitment to further his education and play NCAA hockey at Suffolk University," said HCRI head coach James Mello. "With him being a Rhode Island kid, I have had the pleasure of knowing him since before he attended high school. This season he has matured as an individual and his game has grown tremendously. We could not be happier for Perry and the Gaudreau family."

Gaudreau is one of two EHL players that have committed to Suffolk so far this year, as he will team up with Kyle Pelletier from the New Hampshire Avalanche when he arrives on campus in the fall. Despite having a year of junior eligibility still available, Gaudreau is ready to make the jump now to the NCAA ranks.

“Coach [Shawn] McEachern has told me from the start that he wanted me to play for him and that was so important," said Gaudreau. "Immediately from my visit to Suffolk, I fell in love with Boston and everything the school had to offer. My experience with H.C. Rhode Island has really helped me grow as a player. Coach Mello, Coach [Nick] Delgallo, and Toby [O'Brien] have given me the confidence that helped me be the player that I am today. They also told me they wanted me and have done nothing but believe in me and help me to succeed.”

That belief in one another was proven quickly this season with Gaudreau's selection to the Central/South All-Star Team that faced-off against Stevenson University and Lebanon Valley College back in October. However, O'Brien and the rest of the HCRI staff know that recognition and this commitment for Gaudreau was earned over years and years of hard work.

“I have known Perry and his family since he was 13 or 14 years old," said HCRI general manager Toby O'Brien. "I have been able to see him grow as a person and player during that time as he has trained with OverSpeed Hockey each summer - I could not be happier or more proud. He 100%, self-earned this opportunity with Suffolk."

With this weight now off of his shoulders, Gaudreau will turn his full attention towards the stretch run and the upcoming 2024 EHL Playoffs. One of the league's best goal scorers will look to lead his team into March, and hopefully, a deep run for HCRI during postseason play.
