Maryland Forward Set to Join Cougars this Fall

ODENTON, MD -- Will Moran, a forward for Team Maryland, has committed to Misericordia University for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Olney, MD is in his second season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and first with Team Maryland. After playing the 2022-23 season for the Connecticut Chiefs, Moran moved down to the South Division early on this year. Overall, in 49 career EHL games to date, Moran has tallied 22 points to his credit on eight goals and 14 assists.

"We're proud of Will for earning a commitment to Misericordia University," said Maryland head coach and general manager Eric Progen. "Since he has joined our team, he has impressed us with his work ethic, maturity, and leadership. Will has been an outstanding teammate and contributor on and off the ice. We are excited and look forward to watching his career continue to flourish with the Cougars."

When Moran arrives on campus in the fall, he will joining a growing class of incoming freshmen that already includes Aidan Parker from the Pennsylvania Huntsmen, Gabe Reis from the Philadelphia Hockey Club, and Antoine Robidoux from the New Hampshire Avalanche.

Moran is looking forward to the challenge of laying the foundation for a brand new NCAA Division III program.

"I’m proud to announce my commitment to Misericordia University," said Moran. "I’d like to thank my friends, family and coaches for everything they have done for me. I’d like to thank Team Maryland for giving me the opportunity to finish my junior career at home. I’d also like to thank Coach Progen for believing in me and developing me into not only the best player I can be, but the best person I can be. I'm beyond excited to see what the future holds."

With this decision now made, the immediate future for Moran and his Maryland teammates will focus on the stretch run of the regular season. If the playoffs started today, Maryland would enter March as the #4 seed in their division. However, there are still 12 regular season games remaining to work to improve on that seed.
