87's All-Star Forward Set to Join Flying Dutchmen this Fall

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ -- Blake Dustin, a forward for the New Jersey 87's, has committed to Lebanon Valley College (LVC) for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Columbus, OH is in his second season with the 87's, and over the course of 80 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Dustin has tallied 44 points to his credit on 17 goals and 27 assists.

"Blake has been a tremendous player for our organization," said 87's head coach and general manager Adam Houli. “He is going to be a very good college hockey player. He possesses a strong work ethic, high hockey IQ, and ability to play at the highest level. He has been a pleasure to Coach and I can’t wait to see how he does the next level."

It's worth pointing out the development that Dustin has displayed throughout his time in New Jersey, and look no further than his point production for the proof. After posting 21 points throughout the entire 2022-23 season, Dustin has already amassed 23 points so far this year, with still all of February and March to go.

His improvement in his play was also recognized early on this year, when he was selected to the Central / South All-Star Team that took on Stevenson University and LVC back in October. Therefore, it's safe to say, Dustin's play in the College Series combined with the work he's done in EHL action caught the attention of the Flying Dutchmen almost immediately.

"I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to further my academics and athletics at Lebanon Valley College," said Dustin. "I am very thankful for the opportunity and I look forward to being a part of the future of their hockey program. To everyone who made this possible; Coach Houli, my teammates and friends, especially my parents and my brother, as well as the rest of my close family. Thank you for the support and sacrifices you have made for me. I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of the season with the 87's as we head into the playoffs."

Speaking of the playoffs, the 87's would be the #2 seed in the South Division if the postseason began today. However, they hit the ice for a matchup with the 1st-place New Jersey Bears on Wednesday, which provides them with a chance to close the gap for the top spot.
