Warriors Alumni Forward Set to Join Wildcats this Fall

HAVERHILL, MA -- Josh Belz, a forward for the Valley Jr. Warriors, has committed to Johnson & Wales University (JWU) for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Oklahoma City, OK is currently playing for the Oklahoma Warriors in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), following a season and a half in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Combined between his time spent with the Express Hockey Club and the Warriors, Belz hit the ice for 61 career games in the EHL, tallying 11 points along the way.

"Josh was an integral part of our team over the last two seasons," said Warriors head coach and general manager Ryan McGrath. "He plays a hard-nosed, defensive brand of hockey that NCAA coaches want in their lineup. He’s the ultimate teammate and earned this NCAA opportunity, plus a permanent call up to the Oklahoma Warriors [NAHL]. The Valley Jr Warriors family is incredibly proud of Josh and can’t wait to see him contribute at JWU for Coach [Eric] Graham."

Belz is one of three EHL players from this current season that have chosen the Wildcats for next year, as he will team up with Cullen Hennessy from the Boston Jr. Rangers and Joey Sciabarra from H.C. Rhode Island when he arrives on campus in the fall.

"I can’t thank the staff and my teammates enough at Valley," said Belz. "I will forever be a proud VJW alumni. The combination of academics and hockey at JWU made it a no brainer for me to want to be a Wildcat for the next four years."

Belz former teammates with the Warriors are currently in a tight battle with the Vermont Lumberjacks, for the final playoff spot in the North Division.
