Spartans Forward Set to Join Golden Bears this Fall

EXETER, NH -- Aaron Racino, a forward for the Seacoast Spartans, has committed to Western New England (WNE) for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of New Haven, CT saw his third and final season of junior hockey cut short due to injury, but that didn't hold him back from making this commitment. Working his way up from the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and now onto NCAA hockey, Racino has officially finished the climb up the ladder.

Racino spent time with a pair of programs in New Hampshire, as he started off his junior hockey career with the Avalanche, before moving to the Spartans back in December. Overall, Racino leaves behind a junior hockey career that includes 20 points in 16 total EHLP games, and 45 points in 60 total EHL games.

"It was great to have Aaron with our team this year,” said Spartans head coach and general manager Brett Tryder. “He is a great player and he always gives you all that he is capable of. I am sure that he will have a great career, under Coach [Mike] Young, at Western New England University. I look forward to following his progress."

Racino will enjoy an immediate sense of familiarity when he arrives on campus at WNE, as he will be reunited with a pair of former Avalanche teammates in Malachy Beyer and Aaron Racino.

"I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to Western New England University to further my academic and athletic career," said Racino. "I'd like to thank my family for the constant support and would also like to thank Coach Tryder, Coach [Chris] Cerella, and Coach Craig Ryan, for always pushing and supporting me to be the person and player that I am, today. Finally I'd like to thank Coach Young for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my dream of playing college hockey."
