Rangers Forward Set to Join Wildcats this Fall

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Cullen Hennessy, a forward for the Boston Jr. Rangers, has committed to Johnson & Wales University (JWU) for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Webster, NY is in his second season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and first year with the Rangers. Combined with the 2022-23 season, which was spent with the Express Hockey Club, Hennessy has hit the ice for 70 total games throughout his EHL career, tallying 26 points along the way.

"Cullen has been a huge part of our team's success this season," said Rangers head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "He’s a great teammate and player. He’s bought into his role with us this year, and has become one of the better PK guys we’ve had here. He’s also a guy that you can put on the PP anytime. He’s a great skater and plays 200 feet. Cullen will have a great 4 years at JWU."

Speaking of JWU, Hennessy is now one of three EHL players from this current season that have chosen the Wildcats' program. When he arrives on campus in the fall, he will team up with Josh Belz from the Valley Jr. Warriors and Joey Sciabarra from H.C. Rhode Island.

"My time here at BJR has been an incredible experience," said Hennessy. "The culture here is great and Coach DeCaprio has helped me shape my game for a college style of hockey. Stepping foot on the Johnson and Wales campus I knew right away this is where I want to spend the next 4 years; it just seemed like the perfect fit. I’d like to thank my family, Coach DeCaprio, and all my coaches and teammates throughout the years for helping me get to where I am today."

Hennessy will now turn his focus towards the final two weeks of the regular season, as the Rangers fight for playoff positioning in the loaded East Division standings.
