Avalanche Second-Year Forward Joining Teammate this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Connor Hagness, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Wesleyan University for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Guilford, CT is in his second year in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and first full season with the New Hampshire Avalanche. Since heading to New Hampshire halfway through the 2022-23 season, Hagness has hit the ice for 64 career games in the EHL, tallying 52 points along the way.

"Connor played at Williston Prep and than went to the NCDC, where he was not getting the opportunity he deserved," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "After settling in with us over the last 1 and 1/2 seasons, he is now heading to play college hockey in the NESCAC at Wesleyan University. Hags had a goal and he improved his game and developed every single day. He plays on the edge and he plays the game with jam and that’s gonna translate well at the next level. He worked hard on the ice and in the classroom, and I know he’s going to be a great addition to the Wesleyan community. I wish him and his family the best of luck in the future!"

Hagness, along with his current teammate Robert Martiniello, who also recently committed to join the Cardinals, follow the lead of a strong core of Avalanche players that have advanced onto Wesleyan, dating back to New Hampshire's inaugural season (2017-18) in the EHL.

The list of Avalanche players that have committed to Wesleyan includes Wiggle Kerbrat, Kyle Anderson, Henry Carlson, Parker Sondag, and Mike Fritz.

Hagness is proud to add his name to this list, and is looking forward to getting started on the next step in his career this fall.

"I am very excited to commit to Wesleyan University for next fall," said Hagness. "I’d like to thank my family, teammates, Coach Cerrella and Coach [Mario] Martiniello with the Avs. I would also like to thank Coach [Derek] Cunha at Williston Prep. My past and present coaches pushed me and helped me grow as a player and person along the way! I’m excited for the next four years as a Cardinal! Wesleyan was my top choice and I can’t wait to be part of their athletic and academic community."

Hagness and the Avalanche are gearing up for postseason play, having already locked up the #1 seed in the upcoming North Division Playoffs.
