The '03 native of Cape Elizabeth, ME is in his second season with the Express, and over the course of 78 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Simopoulos has tallied 77 total points to his credit on 26 goals and 51 assists.

"Gavin has been with us at the Express for 2 seasons now. His dedication to the program and team exemplifies the reasons as to why he wore the 'C' this year for us.," said Express head coach Nic Cota. "I’m extremely excited and proud to see Gavin play at Southern Maine, along with a couple former Express players from last season! Congratulations again to Gavin and his family. We look forward to watching his continued success at the next level."

As Cota mentioned, when Simopoulos arrives on campus this fall, he will reunite with a pair of his 2022-23 teammates in Adrian Jubran and Marcus Torgner, who each just completed their freshmen season with the Huskies.

"I’d like to thank everyone that has been with me on my junior hockey journey," said Simopoulos. "I especially want to thank my parents who have always been there for me since day 1 on this long hockey journey, and have given me the resources and support I’ve needed these past 4 years. I would also like to thank Coach Cota and Coach Kyle for an unbelievable 2 seasons. They have guided me into becoming a great player and an even better person. I'm so happy to have been able to call the Express my home and play with two unbelievable groups. Thank you to everyone, and I'm beyond excited for my next four years at USM!"

Simopoulos and the Express currently lead 1-0 in the East Division Finals against the Boston Jr. Rangers. The All-Star forward head the game-winning goal in yesterday's game #1 victory, and he'll look to continue to lead the way as the Express head up to Tewksbury, MA for game #2 today at 12:30 pm.
