Unger Commits to Keene State

Apple Core Forward Set to Join New NCAA Program this Fall

BREWSTER, NY -- Peter Unger, a forward for the New York Apple Core, has committed to Keene State College for the fall of 2024.

The '04 native of Stamford, CT chose the Apple Core for what will end up being his first and only season of junior hockey. In 46 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games this past year, Unger tallied 58 points to his credit on 26 goals and 32 assists.

"Peter is an incredible player and even better person,” said Apple Core head coach and general manager Lenny Caglianone. “Congratulations to Peter and his family; Coach Rodrigue is getting an important piece for the next 4 years!"

Unger adds his name to a growing list of EHL players that have committed to help Keene State launch their NCAA Division III program this fall. When he arrives on campus, he will become new teammates with the following players:

  • Chase Carney (Railers Jr. Hockey Club)
  • Brody Davidson (Bridgewater Bandits)
  • Owen Davidson (Bridgewater Bandits)
  • Artur Dzhilavyan (Connecticut Chiefs)
  • Luke Festa (Connecticut RoughRiders)
  • Joe Fontaine (East Coast Wizards)
  • Ryan Koshiol (East Coast Wizards)
  • Kyle Gonzalez (New Hampshire Avalanche)
  • Jared Martin (Connecticut Chiefs)
  • Shane Mazur (Connecticut Chiefs)

"I'm proud to announce my commitment to Keene State," said Unger." "It’s an honor and a great opportunity to be a part of the program and I’d like to thank my family, friends, and my coaches who have helped along the way. I couldn’t have made it here without all the help and support from them."
