Fontaine Commits to Keene State

Wizards Second-Year Forward Set to Join Owls this Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- Joe Fontaine, a forward for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to Keene State College for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Lancaster, MA recently finished his second and final season with the Wizards, and over the course of 81 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Fontaine tallied 28 points to his credit on seven goals and 21 assists.

"As a staff we couldn’t be more proud to hear about Joe’s commitment to Keene," said Wizards head coach and general manager Kory Falite. "Over the past two seasons we’ve seen his game rise to new heights, and we’re so excited to see it continue to grow. Keene State is gaining not only a very good hockey player, but more importantly, a tremendous person."

Fontaine is part of a strong incoming freshmen class that includes 13 other players from around the EHL.

  • Jared Martin (Connecticut Chiefs)
  • Shane Mazur (Connecticut Chiefs)
  • ​​​Sean McBride (Railers Jr. Hockey Club)
  • Peter Unger (New York Apple Core)

"I’m very excited to continue my academic and athletic careers at Keene State College," said Fontaine. "First, I’d like to thank my family for the countless sacrifices they’ve made and all the support they’ve given to get me to this point. I also want to thank the coaching staff at the East Coast Wizards for the opportunities to develop as a player and person. Lastly, I want to thank Coach Rodrigue for the opportunity to be a part of something special at Keene State. I’m looking forward to getting started in New Hampshire this fall."
