Bears All-Star Forward Set to Join Cougars this Fall

FLEMINGTON, NJ -- Corbin Schiebel, a forward for the New Jersey Bears, has committed to Misericordia University for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Fort Wayne, IN chose the Bears for his final season of junior hockey, and over the course of 46 total games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Schiebel tallied 35 total points to his credit on 14 goals and 21 assists.

"Corbin came to us for his age out season to get committed to college and compete at the highest level he could," said Bears head coach Jason Kilcoyne. "He was someone we depended on to create offense all year. He was also a big reason for our team's success. He is going to make a great transition to college. I am excited for him and his family."

As Kilcoyne mentioned, Schiebel was one of the key offensive contributors for New Jersey throughout the 2023-24 season. His production was quickly recognized with a selection to the EHL's Main All-Star Team that faced-off against SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Brockport back in October.

Schiebel is beyond grateful for the experience he gained during the 2023 EHL All-Star College Series, along with the entire season with the Bears, as it all ultimately led to this moment in his hockey career. He's also looking forward to helping Misericordia launch their NCAA Division III program this fall.

"I have chosen to further my education and hockey career at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pennsylvania," said Schiebel "I chose MU because of the small class size, friendly campus community, and a great coaching staff. This wouldn’t be possible without the support of my family, friends, and Coach Killcoyne."
