Apple Core Forward Set to Join Vikings this Fall

BREWSTER, NY -- Jonathan Waselko, a forward for the New York Apple Core, has committed to Salem State University for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Powell, OH chose the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his final season of junior hockey, and over the course of 41 total games with the Apple Core, Waselko tallied 37 points to his credit on 17 goals and 20 assists.

"Jon was an absolute blessing to have on our team this past year,” said Apple Core head coach and general manager Lenny Caglianone. “His 200-foot game and incredible IQ, made him a staple down the middle. I’m so proud of Jon and wish him all the best."

Waselko is one of three EHL players have chosen Salem State for this upcoming fall, as he will team up with Seamus Cummings of the Seacoast Spartans and Cameron Strykowski of the New Jersey Bears when he arrives on campus.

"I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to further my academics and athletics at Salem State University," said Waselko. "I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to be a Viking. I want to thank my family, coaches, and teammates who all helped make this possible; I would not be where I am today without their support.”
