Avalanche Defenseman Set to Join Corsairs this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Brennan Pecararo, a defenseman for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to UMass Dartmouth (UMD) for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Canton, MA chose the Avalanche for what turned out to be his first and only season of junior hockey, and over the course of 52 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games combined between the regular season and the postseason, Pecararo tallied 26 points to his credit on seven goals and 19 assists.

"Brennan, I believe, is one of our most improved player from this past season," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He really worked on the defensive part of the game and it has really made him a more dynamic defenseman. He can skate and has a good head for the game. I think he will do a fantastic job at the next level. I am very proud of Pecs and I think he is a great fit for Coach Noack and the UMD community. I wish him and his family the best of luck in his next chapter."

Speaking of the UMD community, they will be welcoming in five EHL players onto their campus this fall, including Pecararo. The steady defenseman will remain teammates with Sam Boos, the starting goaltender for the Avalanche this past year, and he will team up with Noah Webster from H.C. Rhode Island and both Tommy Madden and Spencer Sykes from the Boston Jr. Rangers.

"I am very excited to continue my athletic and academic career at UMass Dartmouth," said Pecararo. "I am very thankful for all the support I got from my family and friends along my journey. I would like to thank all my teammates who have pushed to make me better during my playing career. A special thanks to all the coaches who guided me and to Coach Cerrella and the Avalanche for all the hard work they put in to helping me reach my goal. I am looking forward to the future at UMD."
