Terriers All-Star Defenseman Set to Join Cougars this Fall

CANTON, MA -- Cole Mitchell, a defenseman for the Boston Jr. Terriers, has committed to Chatham University for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Freeport, PA chose the Terriers for his final season of junior hockey, and over the course of 43 total games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Mitchell tallied 23 points to his credit on eight goals and 15 assists.

"I couldn't be more proud of Cole and his commitment to Chatham University," said Terriers head coach and general manager Cody Gonyeau. "We have been talking with them for a long time and they have had a ton of interest in him due to his ability to play in every situation. He was a strong asset for us and we utilized him to help us both on and off the ice. I'm looking forward to watching him play college hockey and seeing him succeed!"

As Gonyeau mentioned, Mitchell caught the attention of coaches in the league and NCAA scouts outside of the league, almost immediately upon arrival. Look no further for proof than Mitchell's selection to the North/East All-Star Team that faced-off against Rivier University and Southern New Hampshire University back in October.

"I’m thrilled to further my academic and athletic career at Chatham University," said Mitchell. "Ever since I took a tour, I knew it was my home. The coaching staff and facilities have a very bright future; a future I can not wait to be a part of. I would like to thank all of my previous coaches, teammates, friends and most importantly, my family."

Mitchell goes in the books as the 11th player in league history to commit to Chatham.
