Providence Forward To Join Ravens

NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI -- Phil Parker, a forward for the Providence Hockey Club, has committed to Franklin Pierce University for the fall of 2024.

The '03 from Medfield, MA began his junior hockey career with the Express Hockey Club in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), back in the 2021-22 season. Parker jumped up to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) with the Express in the 2022-23 season, and then played out this past year with Providence.

Overall, Parker tallied 57 points in 42 games in the EHLP, and 31 points in 56 games in the EHL. It's also worth noting that following the conclusion of Parker's first season with the Express, 2021-22, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the EHLP.

"Phil was the ultimate team guy! His desire to win and get better every day was shown both on and off the ice," said Providence head coach and general manager Jeff Perreault. "It’s nice to see a group of players that chose to go to Franklin Pierce to get a great education and also play with their teammates. FPU is getting a big kid with a farmer's mentality and some offensive flair. Good luck, Phil!"

Parker will be joining Franklin Pierce University, along with eight other EHL alumni, including his Providence Hockey Club teammates Ryan Dutcher, Matt Frett, and Thomas Perivolotis.

"Hockey has been my main love and passion my whole life," said Parker. "After high school, I realized my goal was to make an NCAA team and further my playing career. I made the move to play for Providence Hockey Club, and it was the best decision I’ve made in my hockey career. Providence is a great organization that instills hard work in its players and key development on and off the ice. I will cherish the memories made and relationships built through my three years in juniors and in the EHL system. I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity to attend Franklin Pierce College and further my education. I’d like to thank my coaches Jeff Perreault and Ben Thomas for setting me up to succeed and helping me put my best foot forward on this next journey of my life. I’d also like to thank my parents for making this all financially possible. Let’s go Ravens!"
