Chiefs Second-Year Forward Set to Join Trailblazers this Fall

NEWINGTON, CT -- Sam Zis, a forward for the Connecticut Chiefs, has committed to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) for the fall of 2024.

Zis played two seasons in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), totaling 88 games with seven goals and 27 assists for a total of 34 points. He previously played for the Connecticut Chiefs U18 AAA team, back in the 2021-22 season, where he played 66 games and recorded 22 goals and 30 assists. The native of Boulder, CO was a Chief, through and through.

"I am so happy for Sam. MCLA is an up and coming program with a great coach," said Chiefs head coach and general manager Greg Heffernan. "I'm sure Sam will thrive in that environment. We wish him and the Trailblazers the greatest of success."

At MCLA, an NCAA Division III program in the
Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), Zis will team up with Josh Girard from the Express Hockey Club. The MCLA men's hockey team was dormant for the past 20 years until last season, and Zis will join them as they enter their second season back.

"I would first like to thank Coach Ketts for the opportunity. I am really excited to join the Trailblazers next season," said Zis. "I also would like to thank Coach Heffernan from the Chiefs, Coach Tenney, and all of my coaches back in Colorado for helping me over the years. MCLA is a great school and I can’t wait to get started.
