EHL 3 STARS OF THE WEEK (10/13 TO 10/16)

Bucell, Murch, and Struwing Named 3 Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- Another weekend in the books in the EHL, and we're already halfway through October!

Following this weekend's action, we're pleased to announce that Jamie Bucell (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Cody Murch (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), and Derek Struwing (Valley Jr. Warriors) have been named the EHL Stars of the Week.

Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is once again the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

Jamie Bucell

Bucell and the Little Flyers won all three of their games this past weekend, stretching their winning streak to the league-high ten games. Philadelphia currently sits at the top of the standings with a record of 10-0-1 (21 points).

  • Friday, October 14th ::: Little Flyers 7 - Monarchs 1 ::: (1g, 2a, 3p)
  • Saturday, October 15th ::: Little Flyers 5 - Wolfpack 2 ::: (1g, 1a, 2p)
  • Sunday, October 16th ::: Little Flyers 5 - Wolfpack 4 ::: (1g, 1a, 2p)

Bucell now has 11 points in 11 games this season, and will look to continue to lead his team when they host the Connecticut Oilers for a pair of games this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

Cody Murch

Murch and the Jr. Flyers swept the Revolution this past weekend, improving their overall record to 7-2-1 (15 points). The 6'5" netminder was in net both wins against their cross-town rival.

  • Saturday, October 15th ::: Jr. Flyers 5 - Revolution 3 ::: (27 saves)
  • Sunday, October 16th ::: Jr. Flyers 3 - Revolution 1 ::: (41 saves)

Murch stopped 68 of the 72 shots he faced over the weekend, moving his season totals to 187 saves on 197 shots. The native of Raleigh, North Carolina now owns a record of 6-1-0 to go along with a 1.42 GAA and 2 shutouts. Murch will look to keep things rolling next weekend when the Jr. Flyers host the New York Applecore on Saturday and Sunday.

Derek Struwing

Struwing and the Warriors won both of their games this past weekend, improving their overall record to 6-2-2 (14 points). The native of Bartlett, Illinois was held off the scoresheet on Saturday, but came through big for his team on Sunday.

  • Sunday, October 16th ::: Warriors 5 - Wizards 3 ::: (2g, 1a, 3p)

Struwing and the Warriors came all the way back from down 2-0 just over five minutes into the 2nd period. The '97 forward will look to follow things up when the Warriors host the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs on Thursday.

EHL Team of the Week

This week's EHL Team of the Week is once again the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

The Little Flyers were the only team to win three games this past weekend.

  • Friday, October 14th ::: Little Flyers 7 - Monarchs 1
  • Saturday, October 15th ::: Little Flyers 5 - Wolfpack 2
  • Sunday, October 16th ::: Little Flyers 5 - Wolfpack 4

The Little Flyers still remain the only team to be undefeated in regulation, with their only loss coming in overtime on September 18th. Since the opener, the Little Flyers have won ten straight games, while outscoring their opponents 38-12 along the way.

The Little Flyers will look to extend their streak this weekend when they host the
Connecticut Oilers on Saturday and Sunday.

Honorable Mention

This week's Honorable Mention goes out to Donny Flynn of the New Jersey Rockets. Flynn leads his team with 17 points in 13 games so far this season.

The '96 forward from Randolph, New Jersey is in his 2nd season with the Rockets and is on a good pace to match last year's stats when he tallied 52 points in 39 regular season games.

The Rockets have a short break before their next game on October 30th when they travel to take on the Philadelphia Little Flyers at 4:30pm.
