EHL Announces Playoff Format for the Premier Division

Format Set for the Postseason

ROUND ONE - FIRST ROUND

  • Top 8 teams in North Conference advance to the playoffs.
  • All 8 teams in South Conference advance to the playoffs.
  • Top two seeds in each conference are set based off of the Regular Season Division Champions.
  • North Conference (Best Record = #1 Seed, 2nd Best Record = #2 Seed)
    • New England Division Champion
    • Boston Division Champion
  • South Conference (Best Record = #1 Seed, 2nd Best Record = #2 Seed)
    • Central Division Champion
    • Mid-Atlantic Division Champion
  • Seeds 3-8 in each conference will be determined based off of the EHL Operating Rules.
  • First round matchups (Best-of-Three)
    • 1 vs. 8
    • 2 vs. 7
    • 3 vs. 6
    • 4 vs. 5
    • Home Ice determined by EHL Operating Rules
  • Round One of the Premier Division playoffs can start as early as March 6th, and must be completed by March 14th.

ROUND TWO - QUARTERFINALS

  • Combine 4 North Conference winners with 4 South Conference winners and re-seed all 8 teams 1-8 according to the EHL Operating Rules.
  • Second round matchups (Best-of-Three)
    • 1 vs. 8
    • 2 vs. 7
    • 3 vs. 6
    • 4 vs. 5
    • Home Ice determined by EHL Operating Rules
  • Round Two of the Premier Division playoffs can start as early as March 14th, and must be completed by March 20th.

ROUND THREE - SEMI-FINALS

  • Re-seed remaining 4 teams 1-4 according to the EHL Operating Rules.
  • Third round matchups (Best-of-Three)
    • 1 vs. 4
    • 2 vs. 3
    • Home Ice determined by EHL Operating Rules
  • Round Three of the Premier Division playoffs can start as early as March 21st, and must be completed by March 27th.

ROUND FOUR - FINALS

Winners of the Semifinals Series.

If Finals teams are from same conference, home ice advantage will be determined by the higher seed.

If teams are from different conferences, the higher seed will be determined by the head-to-head results from the regular season. If the two teams split their regular season matchups, the higher seed will be determined by using the Tiebreaking Structure set up in the EHL Operating Rules

EHL Finals will be a best-of-five series with higher seed team getting the choice of a 2-2-1 or a 2-3 set-up for home/away, unless the two coaches come to a mutual agreement for a different format.

The EHL Finals can start as early as March 28th.
