BOSTON, MA -- Before the 2016-17 season began, the Eastern Hockey League got in touch with Wylie Rogers. Rogers, a native of Alaska, is the founder of The Wylie Post and CEO of Wylie Inc. Like many hockey players, Rogers began skating when he was just three years old, and stood between the pipes for the first time when he was eight years old. From there, he took his hockey career all the way to the pro ranks, and journeyed for five seasons in the ECHL, CHL, and the Dutch European Pro League. After suffering an injury from a head-on collision with a goalpost, Wylie decided to return to his alma mater (University of Alaska Fairbanks) to enroll in the MBA program and begin his coaching career as the volunteer goalie coach. It was during his time while furthering his education, that the idea for The Wylie Post was born.

#TheNewPeg was invented to both help goaltenders and protect them. The dual spike design uses the entire plate of the pegs to secure the net to the ice, and it allows goalies to push tight against the post, while breaking free upon player impact reducing the risk of injury. Goalies across the EHL have become very satisfied with the posts, including Dylan Schoen. Schoen is in his 2nd season with the Connecticut Nighthawks, and earlier this season, made his NCAA Commitment to SUNY Geneseo for the Fall of 2017.

"The Wylie Post is great because of the two spikes rather than the traditional one," said Schoen. "I have found that my ability to not only push from post to post on my knees, but also push from the post out has improved. This is because with the traditional pegs if you push, or slide too hard, the post would come off."

While Schoen represents how goalies in the Premier Division feel about the pegs, while Ben Parker echoes similar praise for the Boston Jr. Rangers and the 19U Elite Division.

"The Wylie Post is great, and it has definitely helped my game," added Parker. "When the puck is below the goal line I rely heavily on being able to bump post to post with either my shin or skate. Typically with regular pegs if your push is to strong the net will come off its moorings, but with the Wylie Post that never happens. I'm able to push hard and lock into the post without having to worry about the net coming off."

With the position of goalie comes many challenges along with the majority of the pressure. The Wylie Post, while it seems like only a minor detail, can make a significant impact in helping goalies across the country and across the globe. EHL coaches around the league have also noticed that when you submerge the posts in warm water before games, the results increase even higher.
