Kuziak, Vail, and Lloyd Named 3 Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- That does it for another full week of action that included all 17 EHL teams. The Eastern Hockey League's top division is in final stretch mode, with just 35 games remaining between now and the last day of the regular season (March 5th). With a full group of teams hitting the ice, this past week brought us plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

We're pleased to announce that Dom Kuziak (Vermont Lumberjacks), Mac Vail (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), and Brenden Lloyd (East Coast Wizards) have been named the EHL Stars of the Week.

Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, with Honorable Mention awards going to Derek Neal (New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs), Hunter Chaisson (East Coast Wizards), and Keegan Davis (Connecticut Oilers).

Dom Kuziak

Kuziak and the Lumberjacks swept their weekend series with the Boston Bandits, improving their overall record up to 20-17-8 for the season. Vermont's 48 points place them in 3rd place in the New England Division, and more importantly, 6th place in the North Conference.

Kuziak's five-point weekend also included the shootout winner on Sunday afternoon. The '96 forward from Burnt Hills, New York now has 59 points in 45 games for the Lumberjacks this season. Vermont hits the road again this week, as they take on the East Coast Wizards on Thursday, and the New England Wolves on Saturday.

Kuziak also won Star of the Week honors in November (EHL 3 STARS OF THE WEEK 11/2 TO 11/6).

Mac Vail

Vail and the Jr. Flyers kept rolling this past week, improving their overall record up to 33-8-4 for the season. The Jr. Flyers are currently just four points back of the Philadelphia Little Flyers in both the Mid-Atlantic Division and the league standings. While the Little Flyers have three games in hand, the Jr. Flyers still remain as the only team with a chance to catch their rival.

Vail has been the anchor during the Jr. Flyers' 11-game winning streak, as he's been between the pipes the entire time. The '96 netminder now has 14 wins since joining his new team. Vail will look to keep things rolling when the Jr. Flyers host the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack for a pair of games this weekend.

This is Vail's third Star of the Week honor in the last four weeks (EHL 3 STARS OF THE WEEK 2/8 TO 2/13 -- EHL 3 STARS OF THE WEEK 1/25 TO 1/29).

Brenden Lloyd

Lloyd and the Wizards won all three of their games this past week, improving their overall record up to 19-17-7 for the season. The Wizards 45 points keeps them in 5th place in the Boston Division and 8th place in the North Conference, but they do have at least one game in hand on each of the teams that they can catch in the standings.

Lloyd's six-goal week included the game-winner against the Boston Bandits on Thursday. Since joining the Wizards on February 6th, the '96 forward has seven goals and an assist for his new team. Those numbers themselves jump out at you, but the team has also won all five of those games. Lloyd and his new team have a full week ahead of them with a matchup against the Vermont Lumberjacks on Thursday, and then a home-and-home series with the Valley Jr. Warriors on Saturday and Sunday.

EHL Team of the Week

This week's EHL Team of the Week is the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

Philadelphia is absolutely rolling right now, having gone 19-0-1 in their last 20 games. It's been a crazy ride for the Jr. Flyers, with their last regulation loss coming back on December 11th.

  • Wednesday, February 15th ::: Jr. Flyers 3 - Little Flyers 2 (SO)
  • Saturday, February 18th ::: Jr. Flyers 1 - Rangers 0
  • Sunday, February 19th ::: Jr. Flyers 7 - Express 2

The Jr. Flyers are currently just four points back of the Philadelphia Little Flyers in both the Mid-Atlantic Division and the league standings. While the Little Flyers have three games in hand, the Jr. Flyers still remain as the only team with a chance to catch their rival. Philadelphia will look to keep things rolling when they host the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack for a pair of games this weekend.
