Knights Forward Set to Join Cougars Next Fall

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON, PA -- Matt Mood, a forward for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, has committed to Chatham University for the fall of 2019.

The '99 from Palmyra, NJ is in his first season in the EHL, and to date, he's tallied six goals and six assists through 19 games.

"We take a lot of pride in our players and their goals,” said Knights head coach Josh Fusco. "It’s a great feeling seeing those kids achieve their goals under the Knights program. They came here for a reason and that reason is being fulfilled. I take a great level of pride in the success here all across the board, both on and off the ice. Matt is a worker and works hard consistently. You can put him in any spot and in any situation. He has really elevated his game and he hasn’t peaked. That’s a big factor about him, and what got him to Chatham and why he will have success at the collegiate level."

Mood has displayed both his scoring and play-making abilities this season, and he has played a solid role in his team going 7-0-1 in their last 8 games. During that stretch, Mood has a pair of goals and a pair of assists, as the Knights have continued to improve as the season has progressed. Looking back, Mood is very grateful of the experience he has gained this year, and he's truly looking forward to his future at Chatham.

"Chatham is the perfect fit for me,” said Mood. “They have the perfect program for me academically and they also have a great hockey program in a highly competitive division, so I’m pretty excited to see how I match up against those guys. I couldn’t be more excited to get started next year. I’ve worked almost my whole life with hopes that I’d get an opportunity to play college hockey. After working hard on and off the ice for all these years, it’s a great feeling to finally reach my goal.”

The Knights have a pair of games left before taking off for the holidays, as they hit the ice for a huge home-and-home series against the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
