Chiefs Goaltender Set to Join Lions this Fall

NEWINGTON, CT -- Gabriel Couture, a goaltender for the Connecticut Chiefs, has committed to Bryn Athyn College for the fall of 2019. Couture joined the Chiefs in late October, and won six games over the course of the year for Connecticut. Couture turned heads across the league, while making over 30 saves in 13 different games throughout the season.

"From the moment Gabriel arrived he brought a seriousness, work ethic, and desire to grow as a goaltender, that was contagious throughout our organization," said Chiefs head coach and general manager Kevin Cunningham. "He is a young man who loves the game and is willing to work to earn his opportunities. His play on the ice was excellent, but his impact on the Chiefs, his teammates and me personally has been equally outstanding. I am extremely proud of Gabriel and very excited for him and his family that he will get to continue his education and hockey career at Bryn Athyn, where I believe he will have a tremendous four-year experience and make a significant impact on the Lions’ program.”

As Cunningham mentioned, Couture made his impact felt immediately upon his arrival in Newington. The '98 native of Canada got my comfortable as the season progressed, and now he's looking forward to seeing what he can do at the next level.

"I knew that Bryn Athyn would be a good fit for me nearly right away," said Couture. "I loved the coaching staff from the get-go because of their ambitions for the coming years. It is a very young program with a ton of good young players, so I think the team has a lot of potential. I look forward to helping the program grow and playing a part in the continued establishment of a winning culture. I would also like to thank the Connecticut Chiefs for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talents this season. From the owners to the coaching staff to my teammates and the team’s support staff, everyone has been great to me and I know that I would not be heading to Bryn Athyn in the fall without all of them."

Wizards Defenseman Set to Join Skyhawks this Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- Josh Loveridge, a defenseman for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to Stonehill College for the fall of 2019. In his second season with the Wizards, the '98 native of Malden, MA has 17 career points in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

"Josh is one of the hardest working players we've had during my time with the Wizards," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "Kory [Falite] and I are very happy with the player that he's become. He's not the type of player who will fill up the box score, but his impact is often the difference between winning and losing. I am very happy that Josh found a perfect fit in Stonehill College."

As Meyer mentioned, Loveridge is a defensive defenseman and this is proven through the four goals and 13 assists he's tallied in over 60 total games. Overall Loveridge is very proud of the player he has become on the blue line, and he gives a lot of credit to the entire Wizards Coaching Staff.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank my family, friends, and past coaches for the endless support not only during my time with the Wizards, but my entire hockey career. I couldn’t imagine I would be here today without all of them," said Loveridge. "Secondly, I would like to thank Freddy, Kory, Adrian, all of the guys from the past two seasons, and the entire Wizards organization. They have created such a great environment for guys to spend their junior careers, and develop not only as hockey players, but as people outside the rink. I can’t think of anywhere I would have rather spent my junior career."

Loveridge and the Wizards just knocked off the Vermont Lumberjacks on Friday, and thus earned their first trip in franchise history to the EHL Frozen Finals.
