Express Forward Set to Join Blue Devils this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Justin Guelph, a forward for the Walpole Express, has committed to SUNY Fredonia for the fall of 2022.

The '01 native of Kendall Park, NJ came to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his final season of juniors, and in 37 total games to date, Guelph has tallied 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists) for the Express.

“Justin has done a tremendous job for us all season," said Express head coach Josh Holmstrom. "Statistically he is an offensive leader and is a constant threat. Justin skates well and works extremely hard. I am very excited to watch Justin grow as a person and player at the collegiate level.”

Guelph goes in the books as the 33rd player in league history to choose Fredonia, and he's part of a group that includes eight other current EHL skaters that have made the same decision for this upcoming fall. Included in that group is Parker James, one Guelph's current teammates and the captain of the Express.

Guelph went on to talk about why Fredonia is the perfect fit for him.

“The culture and relationships they have at Fredonia was important," said Guelph. "It was also very important to find a school where I can study what I want to do in the future. They give a welcoming feel and offer a true college hockey experience to the players.”

With this being his final season of juniors, Guelph felt confident in his decision to play for the Express, and this commitment has the playmaking forward feeling ready to take the next step in his career.

“Playing in Walpole has helped prepare me for the next level," added Guelph. "The program has done a great job developing players while also putting together a strong team. Being a part of the Express has made this process a lot easier.”

Now, with this weight off of his shoulders, Guelph will turn his full attention towards furthering his development over the course of the rest of the season and into the playoffs. Speaking of the playoffs, Guelph will also now look to help Walpole make a run in the East Division, that will hopefully lead them to the franchise's first-ever appearance at the EHL Frozen Finals.
